Development can be more than only the normal 2–3 times of training sessions. We have to change a little bit the culture of how we organize tennis towards our members. Right now, tennis is for a lot of kids a lesson sport. Wednesday and Friday at 4 o’clock. That’s it.
Do we want to change it or not?
I’m not saying we have to, but my opinion, we have to do more than the lessons. I don’t know anyone who does football/soccer. but only do the Wednesday training session skipping match on Saturday. But a lot of tennis players are doing this. The big difference is surprising to me — it’s about culture. So, if we want to change the culture, we have to make sure that the kids have competitive opportunities, events at the club and plays with fellow players outside of the organized practice.
