It doesn’t matter if you hit a winner, if the opponent’s misses or if you force the miss of the opponent. The point is a point. End of story.
If we would have different rules that the winner counts double or triple. OK, then we should talk about maybe getting more winners. But hitting more winners, especially in juniors it’s a cool thing, you can have a highlight video etc. But if you want to just be a better and more successful player, forget about winners.
Instead, you should focus on hitting every shot with the best quality. Quality in that case means the highest margin of error. The most precise doesn’t mean to the line. It means to the spot on the court where you want to hit it to with the best effect. So, a mixture of speed and spin.
If you focus on that, maybe a winner will come, maybe a forced error but it will bring you a lot more benefits than focusing on hitting a winner.
