When a player makes a mistake & tells me “I should have…”, sometimes even a look is enough.

When a player becomes self aware & self reflective. When a player starts to self-correct & all I have to do is nod or give them a thumbs up. They don’t need my help all the time telling them what is right & what is wrong. When they start to recognize their own faults & correct themselves.

That to me is when I have succeeded as a Tennis Coach.

The Golden Moments are rare, but that is what I strive for as a Tennis Coach, & in order to have a chance of experiencing them I remind myself:

1) Talk less & the players might think a little more
2) Don’t aim for perfect technique, make players problem solve
3) Resist the urge to help out the players every time they need help
