Teaching young tennis players to get things right are inadvertently undermining curiosity, risk-taking, resilience & intellectual discovery.

If we as Tennis Coaches are trying to teach the players to play too perfectly or too correctly we will never get the “wow” experiences when watching the players. We will miss the situations where we think that a player is a genius aka creative. The players will become like machines & be very easy for their opponents to make an effective game plan against.

Does that mean that you shouldn’t teach your players biomechanically sound technique, of course not! BUT when the biomechanical principals (the basics) are done correctly make room for the players to have individual differences both on their strokes, but also in the over all way that they go about their tennis
